Fertilization Instructions For New Plants
Fertilization
Our team fertilized your plants when they were installed. No additional fertilization is required the first growing season
To protect your new plants, annual deep root fertilization is strongly recommended. Fertilization promotes new growth, hardiness and color; relieves stress; reverses the effects of aging and nature; and counteracts damage due to insects or disease.
Fertilization also replaces essential nutrients lost to leaching and competition with weeds. Ask about our summer and winter plant protection packages for your plantings.
Type of Fertilizer
Each variety of plants requires a fertilizer blended with specific blend of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). Fertilizer labeling represents these nutrients in the order of N P K. For example, 5-10-5 contains 5% nitrogen, 10% phosphorus and 5% potassium. A fourth number will represent the amount of sulfur in the mix. Use fertilizer as recommended on the bag.
Evergreens: Juniper, Yews, Junipers, Rhododendrons, Azaleas, and Hollies- Acidic fertilizer such as Holly-Tone is recommended
Other Plant Material: General Purpose Fertilizer, such as Plant-Tone is recommended
