February 2020 The R&S team takes advantage of down time during the winter to add to our skills and educate our team with valuable information for the next season. We provide in house classes with topics that vary from paver installation to how handle a problem team member. Keeping with our key values of learning we also go to Trade shows and Rutgers Seminars to get the new and fresh ideas for our industry. This is how we grow our team members into being the talented landscapers for our clients.
The R&S Garden Team starts training how to make things Seasonally Beautiful from a really young age. We got to work with 1st grade and kindergarten age children at the Upper Saddle River Academy, building a harvest display, taking it off the big truck and laying it out in front of the school getting things festive for the parents night next week. Everyone’s favorite part was learning about planting bulbs and digging in the dirt! Everyone got to plant snow drop bulbs that will come up the first sign of spring through the snow. We look forward every year to this event to work with the kids and maybe spark some interest in the growing world around them.
The 2019 Daffodil festival was a tremendous success, thanks to everyone who turned out to spend a beautiful day outdoors celebrating the Earth! We took some fun pictures during the event, which we are happy to be able to share. Remember, visit the professionals at R&S Landscaping for advice on challenging lawn and garden questions, as well as for the best installation work anywhere in the county!

Master Gardener Julie Watson and Landscape Designer Joe Young educated over 60 first- and second-grade girls with an interactive lesson about the importance of soil. They discussed the different components of soil, allowed the children to make their own soil mixture, and potted pepper plants, provided by R & S Landscaping, in which the children took home. “Worm Poop was a hit!
