(September 22, 2017) – R&S Landscaping’s Specialty Gardener, Julie Watson and Joseph Young worked with students at Upper Saddle River Children’s Academy to decorate their grounds for fall and prepare the garden for early spring color. Upper Saddle River Children’s Academy, located at 500 E. The remaining students used their strong muscles to carry each item to the display area. Once all of the items were unloaded, the students collectively had the chance to design and place […]

Learning about the world around them is a great way to attract children to science. As a way to teach students about how food is grown, R&S Landscaping, the region’s leading environmentally responsible landscaping firm, held a hands on “You Eat Dirt!” workshop on July 19 at Ridgewood Summer Day Camp. Master Gardener Julie Watson and Landscape Designer Joe Young educated over 60 first- and second-grade girls with an interactive lesson about the importance of soil. They discussed the different components of soil, allowed the children to make their own soil mixture, and potted pepper plants, provided by R & S Landscaping, in which the children took home. “Worm Poop was a hit! Julie Watson, specialty gardener at Midland Park-based R&S Landscaping, recently worked with students at Upper Saddle River Children’s Academy to decorate the grounds for fall and prepare the garden for early spring color.
R&S Landscaping, the region’s leading environmentally responsible landscaping firm, recognizes learning about the environment makes an even greater impact when children can interact with nature up close and personal. That’s why they recently held a “How To Attract Butterflies” workshop at Ridgewood Summer Day Camp.
Plants in New Jersey are no different; they feel the effects of a long winter, too. Cold weather can cause all types of problems for your lawn and plants. For example, heavy snowfalls may break limbs and rapid temperature changes can damage plant tissue. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still have a beautiful landscape this spring.
Congratulations to our winners, Barry Glick of Franklin Lakes and Charlotte Gorun of Clifton, NJ!
These gardeners have been able to exercise their creative talents and capture the beauty of nature at the same time.
